A Call to Arms: The Tattoo Community Must Come Together to Strengthen Our Industry

It’s no secret that tattooing is one of the oldest and most respected forms of art in the world. However, what might be a secret is the fact that tattooing still faces many challenges. One of the biggest challenges we face as a community is building and strengthening communication within our industry. This involves coming together to agree on common goals and methods, so that we can present a united front to government officials.

This is especially important now, as tattooing is coming out of an era of gatekeeping. This has led to many tattoo artists feeling strained and unable to grow in their careers. It has also led to negative things like over-regulation by state, city and county regulatory agencies. However, we can take charge and manage our own behalf if we’re willing to come together as a community.

It’s when we don’t understand something that we can be misled, tattoo regulations are a perfect example of this. The government has to manage billions of people, and tons of industries – it’s not their intention to mismanage and mess with people’s livelihoods, it’s just a byproduct of too much to do, with not enough people willing to do it.

But by educating ourselves on how tattoo regulations work, and working together to find some basic foundations methods we can agree on, we will encounter far less “meddling” in our affairs. By showing solidarity, cooperation and unity will allow us to guide our own methods with tattoo regulations, safeguarding our community as a whole. So let’s take the time to educate ourselves, and build a tattoo regulations foundation that works for everyone. Let’s build a foundation for handling these issues that works for everyone in the tattoo community! We have the power to do this! And it all starts with education and working together.
